hp_grad is a community for both current and former grad students who also happen to be Harry Potter fen - so it's open to profs, too, in all disciplines, and anywhere in the world. Medical students, law students - anyone working on or who has finished an advanced degree of some ilk is welcome. Even if you're no longer an active student, you can contribute to discussions, dispensing advice on ways you found worked in the great school-life balancing act.

The mods are magnetic_pole and snegurochka_lee; the community hasn't been tremendously active for a while, but they're trying to revitalize it and Maggie has set up a post for folks to introduce themselves today. Go, join, say hello!

In other words, I basically got minimum stuff done to survive tomorrow. Since I'm doing the stand-in thing for my colleague, I'll be there until close to 4, then pick up CSA, then come home.

SO finally got home about 20 minutes ago (he worked out after class) and is now eating, but he offered me a head rub so I will read a bit more of the stuff for Monday's class, then collect on the head rub and then go to bed. *fwump*

Someday I'll have more cheerful stuff to post... seems like lately it's been a lot of whinging. Sorry about that.

Massive headache today, so I'm not getting much done. Although I have finally caught up on the discussion in one LIS class, I still feel woefully behind on the two of them collectively. *sighs*

*plaintive* Can I just, you know, feel like something - anything! - is finished for a change?

I suppose on the plus side the weather is actually rather nice today (although it'll warm up over the next few). Mid-70s, sunny, not too humid. I haven't walked Juno yet but probably will in early evening, before dinner.

One of my students died this past weekend, in an auto accident. She wasn't taking a class from me this term, but had taken two (or maybe three, I lose track) in the past several years, beginning with an honors Civ class as a freshman, and was a major in my department. It's always sad to lose someone with so much potential. *sighs* Losing a student isn't like losing a friend - when I was an undergrad myself, a friend of mine died in similar circumstances, and that meant more to me personally - but still, not a happy day here.

Have done most of the to-do list, all of the totally-vital-must-do-today-or-I-die stuff except for the grading, which I am about to go work on.

She is sleeping on the floor a few feet away from my chair, and making little swallowing noises, and foot-twitches and tail-twitches. Infinitely cute! So now I'm going to wake her to take her downstairs to bed.

My dad left this morning, I got the grocery shopping done, did some reading for both LIS and my upper-div class, and SO and I went down to his departmental party. Not a bad Labor Day although I still have a lot I need to do between now and Wednesday morning, ack!
